WHY IRELAND
Ireland truly lives up to its nickname, the Emerald Isle, with its stunning landscapes of lush green and shimmering blue. One of the best ways to experience this breathtaking beauty is by driving along The Wild Atlantic Way, a 1,553-mile route that hugs the rugged west coast. This journey offers dramatic views of towering cliffs, moody lighthouses, and enchanting castles, showcasing Ireland’s spectacular natural scenery.
A stay at Ballyfin Demesne lets you immerse yourself in Ireland’s grand history. This real-life ‘Downton Abbey’ provides a luxurious experience with its elegant period furnishings, stately gardens, and even a private tower. Arriving by horse and carriage and dressing in period costume for dinner adds a touch of historic glamour to your visit. Read More
Ireland’s cultural richness is also evident in its vibrant traditional music scene. Local pubs come alive with the sounds of fiddles, harps, and bodhráns, creating a lively and authentic atmosphere. Even if you’re not a drinker, the warmth of the locals and the chance to sing along to classics like “Danny Boy” make for an unforgettable night out.
No trip to Ireland would be complete without tasting the local Guinness, which is famously better enjoyed in its homeland. Visit the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin to discover the brewing process behind this iconic beer, and enjoy a pint in any local pub.
For a relaxing and uniquely Irish experience, indulge in a seaweed bath at Voya Seaweed Baths in Strandhill. This tradition, dating back to Edwardian times, offers therapeutic soaks in hot seawater and seaweed, with the added benefit of a scenic beachside location perfect for a stroll afterward.
To fully embrace Ireland’s fairytale charm, consider staying in one of the many historic castle hotels. Ashford Castle, an 800-year-old gem, provides a luxurious retreat with its impressive architecture, high-end cuisine, and activities such as falconry and fishing. At Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare, you can enjoy falconry classes with owls and hawks or cast a line in the nearby River Sheen.
Ireland’s luxurious spas, like the contemporary Espa at the g in Galway, offer a tranquil setting amidst the country’s stunning landscapes, ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The Emerald Isle also shines on the big screen, having served as the backdrop for films such as “The Princess Bride” and “Star Wars.” The country’s rich mythology adds an extra layer of enchantment. Irish folklore is filled with tales of leprechauns and fairies, and you can explore fairy trails like Grianán of Aileach and Knockainey Hill, where the magic of these legends feels palpable.
Festivities such as St. Patrick’s Day bring Ireland’s vibrant culture to the forefront, while Halloween, rooted in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, highlights the country’s mystical traditions. And who could forget the whimsical legend of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? This enduring myth invites visitors to explore Ireland’s enchanting landscapes, where every turn might lead to a touch of magic.
With its dramatic scenery, rich traditions, and warm hospitality, Ireland offers an unforgettable journey through a land where myth and reality seamlessly blend.
