Inspired by the “wave organ” in San Francisco, architect Nikola Bašić, designed the sea organ “Morske Orgulje” in the quaint seaside village of Zadar in Croatia.

The 73 metre long steps which flow into the Adriatic Sea, make this the longest aerophone in the world but the sea organ’s design is distinct in that the 35 chambers lie below the monolithic steps.  The organ then harnesses the energy of the waves by pushing air through these resonating chambers giving the waves a melodious sound, never to be repeated.
