You might ask, why is there an 4th Century BC Egyptian temple near the Plaza de Espanha, Madrid?

When the Aswan Dam threatened the temple in the 60’s, Egyptian authorities decided to gift it to Spain to thank them for their help in saving Abu Simbel. This beautiful temple that honours the gods, Amun and Isis, was carefully dismantled, shipped and then trained to Madrid, where it was carefully reconstructed ready for the grand opening in 1972. Internally the hieroglyphics not only document the temples past, but the authorities thought it apt to include a chapter, in hieroglyphics, also documenting the temples move to Spain.
