Understanding the importance of the forest biosphere, Uganda has an incredible “3-for-1” tree law! For every tree cut down, three new ones must be planted! This eco-friendly initiative combats deforestation and is enforced by the National Forestry Authority (NFA), which actively patrols forests and ensures compliance.

To facilitate the reforestation, the NFA also runs various community-based schemes that provide free tree seedlings through nurseries across the country. This law not only protects Uganda’s economy but also preserves its unique ecosystem, which is home to a plethora of bird species, butterflies, 20 primate species, and the iconic Mountain Gorilla.

Together, Uganda is leading the way in balancing development with conservation!
